Customer Service!?!?

Let me just preface this blog by saying that I am a believer in service to people and not just for a career choice, but in general. I feel that somewhere along the lines people have lost the idea of “service” to people. Speaking from the perspective of someone who has over 10 years experience in this field, an active volunteer servant in my community, as well as a consumer of different services, I must say that the ideal behind customer service has gone down hill. In other words, customer service is a joke!!!

If you don’t believe me, let me provide you with a few examples to consider (don’t worry I’ll wait). How many times have you gone to a restaurant, placed a simple order for a hamburger, no onion, extra pickles, only to be given a CHEESEburger, no pickles, extra onions, and hard buns? Or how many times have you gone to the doctor’s office for an appointment that you scheduled three weeks in advance, only to have the office staff sign you in requesting your insurance card, driver’s license, check, cash, or major credit card (to pay for this visit and the balance left from any other previous visits), without even a mention as to what is wrong with you? Then to add insult to injury you sit patiently in the waiting room, doing just that for 45 minutes, just to be called back to the room where a C.N.A. takes your vitals, asks you 50 questions and says, “the doctor will be with you shortly.” But he or she forgets to tell you that “shortly” mean another 45 minutes because the office staff overbooked the schedule (to get more money) so the doctor is “running behind”. Finally, you are victorious in being seen by your doctor, who is in and out of the session with you in five to seven minutes only to give you a prescription and a hand shake while saying, "if your problem persists, come back in. Why so you can waste another three hours of you life that you will never get back. Lastly, how many times have you been pulled over by those whose motto is, “to protect and serve”, for a minimal lack of registration, only to be harassed for drunk driving (although you don’t drink), surrounded by police cars, your car impounded and then dropped off at home. Now the ticket may have been $70, but money is better for those “other charges” so you’re screwed out of $275 (cost of ticket - getting your car back and those registration tags you initially got pulled over for); meanwhile, someone in the city getting raped, robbed, or killed.

It is my estimation that people in this society don’t give a damn about the service that they provide. If a fast food worker would stop and think, would I want to eat that? Then maybe your food wouldn’t be served to you cold, inedible, and just plain WRONG!! And if a doctor would either get sick and need another physician’s services or have their time wasted, then they would realize they are there to help the people who come to see them for HELP, then they would not just treat their patients as another “revenue generator.” The one I really want to say is that if people in politics, who ARE elected officials and put in office to serve, would REMEMBER THAT SIMPLE TRUTH, then they would stop raping the people who put them in office. They would actually “serve the needs of the people” – not “serve themselves” , and stop serving up bullsh*t when they talk to the people.

All I am saying is that people should do a “self-examination, especially when in a position of servitude. Whatever you are gonna do, do it right and with some class. And remember that someone, sooner or later, is going to have to serve you. You reap (get), what you sow (give). Get it together people please…Truth
